Strazdas Won't Seek Another Term As Portage Mayor

City of Portage

Portage Mayor Peter Strazdas says he won't run again this fall.  Meanwhile a member of the city council has announced she's running for mayor.

Strazdas announced his decision during the annual "State of the City" address on Wednesday. Strazdas says he needs more time with his family and to deal with what he calls a "personal health challenge."

In his address released by the city, Strazdas says he will assist with a smooth transition.

Strazdas, who's in his seventh term as mayor, has been on the Portage City Council for 16 years.

Portage City Council member Patricia Randall has announced she is launching a campaign for mayor. Randall has served on the council since 2009.
